Question Towing w/ a smarty.. Good Idea? Bad Idea?

Thinking about getting a smarty for the '07 and will be towing about 8x a year 12k~14k, because i'm on 37"s w/ 3:73's "stock is slow and sucks"; but that almighty; WARRANTY KEEPS GETTING IN THE WAY of fuelish needs but seriosly my 12v feels better when towing . So im interested if El sen`ior smarty would be the right choice. input would be much appriciated.Towing w/ a smarty.. Good Idea? Bad Idea?-img_5065.jpg

You can't hardly go wrong with getting a Smarty. I tow with mine all the time. Your sig doesn't mention your trans, but if it is a stock automatic you will eventually need upgrades.

I daily drive and tow with mine on 9 all the time....but I don't abuse it. You just have to control the right foot. IF you don't think you can, then lower the Smarty setting down to a smaller number like 3. Or back to stock.

I run mine on KILL all the time. Towing or not. Smarty on 9 and MP-8 100 percent. It dyno'd 532 hp last time I dyno'd. 97K miles, still on the stock injectors and turbo.

Turbo upgrades and a set of Don's stix are in the eventual plans.

With 37s and a stock tranny, I would NOT add any power while towing. You're just asking for trouble.

Always a day late, and a dollar short.

Keep the torque settings low like stock or the next higher w/ hp @ or below 5 and you'll be just fine. Towed w/ mine all the time.

Tow with the SMARTY... it's like putting money back in your jeans with the mileage increase.

No BS, expect 1-2 mpg more when towing with SMARTY over stock programming. (hand calculated)

I really like level 3 for towing. Perfect balance of power and economy! Enough ***** when you need it, and good economy when just pulling along. EGT's stay good too. Even cooler than stock.

Not a single person telling you to go for it has a stock auto.

Beware the masses!

I tow with mine anywhere from 3 to 9, but I have a upgraded clutch. I agree with ^^^ with a stock trans I would be careful towing with a smarty.

I have a stock tranny & tow 10K lbs. w/it usually on 3. I tried SW5 but it didn't like it(tranny) but no prob.'s on SW3 but you have to be smart about it. 2 MPG increase & EGT's about 200 degrees cooler.
