superchips: fueling or timming

mabey this has already been answered but what does the superchips change. Is it just timing or timing and fuel pressure etc. Also I have seen a few posts about the superchips causing the truck to surge. Mine does this when i first put it on cruise . It's kind of like it over compensates. If I set it at 75 it will jump to 85 and slowly come back down. Anyway just curious for some more knowlege about my truck.

I have the Superchips on my truck and have had no surging issues. I was told by an employee of Superchips, that they are timing only.

Hey thanks for the responce. I have done a few searches on this and havn't found the answer I would like. Do these work good with after market injectors. I have read to run a timming box to reduce your egt's.

I HAD a Superchips but removed the tuner software and sent it back for a refund. I too had the same surging problem with my 2002. I called the tech support people at Superchips and experienced terrible customer service. They even went so far as to blame their software on MY TRUCK!!! The surging problem vanished when I removed the tuner software and set everything back to stock. Tell me that is not a software problem. I do this for a living everyday!!!

I'm looking into a Smarty. You would be better served, I believe, to go up another road.

I have the same problem with my 2000. Gonna get rid of it when I get some money for something different.

The only reason I have the Superchips is because it came with the truck. I would not have bought it. I will probably keep it though, at least for recalibrating for tire size.

I have the SC 3705 programmer and Stage 3 Jammer nozzles and man does this thing haul. Before with just the SC, I could put in on perf. and still not slip the torque conv. but now I can slip it(if I want to) on tow safe. As far as EGT's, I still have the stock exhaust and haven't noticed higher than normal EGT's but I also haven't towed yet. What I did notice was my EGT's were higher with the SC off. So far I like my combo but my trans is starting to revolt, but at 148,000 miles I guess it has a valid complaint.
