how much timming

i have a 97 5 speed with 370s, #10 plate straight exhaust with a bhaf. how much timing should i run. i was thinking in the 16.5 to 17 area, but now i am thinking a bit higher. need some pointers, thanks mike

if you get a 4k gov kit I would go with 16.5. If not stay at 16<br>DM01

Take it to 18* .. you'll like it there ... just be aware the higher you go the less your head gasket likes it ... I was running 18* for 2 years w/ 370's 4/5 plate. <br><br>

Like Rammin said the higher you go the less your head gasket likes it. 16 to 16.5 is a big difference over stock, if you do your own work some guys are up into the 20's. 16 to 16.5 seems to be the norm and not overly aggressive.
