Steering Play/Pop

So when I'm driving on a banked entrance ramp going to the right all of a sudden the truck will kind of pop (in the steering) and I'll have to turn the wheel further to maintain the same turn.

It happens other times too, but isn't as noticeable. Any thoughts on where to start?

I've got a DSS and a thuren trac bar....

A Borgeson steering shaft and a Rock Solid Ram Steering bushing should fix that. I've heard Borgeson shafts can be too tight so a just an oem shaft should work.

Yeah, wheel bearings could do that. Might check the play and any rubbing on the brake caliper housing from the wheel trying to separate from the truck....

When my wheel bearings went the only thing holding the tire on was the brake caliper (scary). When the bearing starts to disintegrate the tire will move outboard a random times. The disc on the disc brake will rub on the caliper bracket. Just look where the disc runs through the front of the caliper and see if there are any gouges. It was impossible for me to tell that anything else was wrong except there was A LOT of heat from the bearing that was noticeable on the wheel. You can drive the truck for awhile and then feel the wheel near the hub for heat buildup. With the wheel bearing, the popping and pulling will only get worse, and more scary....

Jack the front eng up and support it on jack stands. Then pull and push on the top and bottom of front tires as you listen feel and look. There should not be any play. If you have any play check the ball joints to make shear there not it or are. Then you can push/ pull and see if any of the steering joints are loose. If it is 4wd rotate the tire back in forth well looking at the u-joints in the axle just behind the tires.
Hope this helps
Glen

Mine did exactly what you are talking about and it was a worn out pitman arm. Very easy to detect and replace. Keep the truck on the ground and have someone turn the wheel back and forth. There was so much slop in mine the pitman arm would ride up and down the steering box shaft.
