Steering Pop

Has anyone had this problem? I have a '04.5 2500 2WD SWB. when i make hard right turns and the truck sways or hits a bumb, my steering linkage make a horrific pop. My work has a '02 Ram 2500 Van and it does the same thing. I think its a 2WD deal but I just cannot stand that sound. I havnt had a chance to bring it to the dealerships because there is a 2-3 week wait due to the hurricains that hit down here this year. Just want to know if anyone else has this problem and what they were told after you went to get it checked out.

Your truck chassis steering has little in common with the 2500 van. I haven't seen alot of issues with the pickups, but the vans have had "turning into a driveway" pop noise ever since I can remember.

On the chevy vans it only does it at full steering lock.. Toyota's do it real bad..

When you turn full lock it is resting on the steering stop then you hit a bump and it rubs/pops on the steering stop...

Could this be your noise???

Find the steering stops (sorry not to familiar with the 2wd truck) and put a little grease on there and see if it goes away...

Sevir, my 2wd does this as well. Only at slow speeds, and only when cranking the wheel hard to the right. I have not had it in to the dealer to be checked yet. Since it doesn't happen very often I have postponed making an appointment. Sounds like something is binding up. I wonder if it is the rubber boots covering the tie rods?

It sounds too horrable to be rubber boots, what it sounds like to me is a thread in the tie rod is popping out. I know its not that but thats what i sounds like.
