Spearco Intercooler users, question
A buddy of mine bought a spearco intercooler brand new, to replace the stock one that was damaged in a accident. Well he is installing and having a problem with it passenger side inlet tube not pointing in the right direction. It points toward the outside of the truck and runs into the inner fender. He cannot even get the turbo boot on without modifing the fender. He called Turbonetics and they said is was supposed to be like that? I have a hard time believing that it would be pointing that far out.
So my question is you guys that have Spearco 2gen intercooler how far out was the passenger side and did you have to modify the inner fender well?
Thanks for your help,
Dustin

Is it worth the money, yes and no. They work well on truck pushing lots of CFM air thru the intercooler, theres less resistance with the spearco. I had to build my own air tube off my turbos into the intercooler. I just bought two long bend 45deg bends and just rotated them/bent them together until they fit. My spearco is 3in inlet, not 3 1/2in like the stocker. I bought some 3in hose material. Did it lower egt's yes and no. Does it increase power, not really. It did help some on the spool-up. I thought the intercooler was top notch in quality. Way better than stock. I just looked at it this way, its slightly more money than stock IC. Mines toasted, why not upgrade. What wifey doesn't know, she dont need to know.

I swear my truck spooled better with the Spearco IC. EGT's dropped 100*F in 110*F desert temps pulling a load uphill at 4000' elevation. If my truck made less power, and therefore made more boost while climbing (my truck would only make around 15# with the turbo I have climbing that hill), there may have been bigger gains.

The one we put on a friends pull truck we did have to cut or bend some on the inner fender. On his truck it helped a lot. The egts. went down around 175*. I don't believe it made any more boost than before we installed it. Overall the truck did run better though. The one he has is rated for 200psi.
