SORRY, another converter thread

Hello,

I want to try a Georand Brothers single disk converter, but would like to hear how well some folks have faired with them. I know that cumminsdriver635 had problems with his slipping in lock-up, but would like more suggestions from others etc.. I am really only planning on going as far as my stock turbo can take me (350 or so hp?????). If I go bigger, he will usualy give credit towards a tripple. I currently have what is in my signature, but plan on adding 215 injectors and a 4k gsk soon.

thanks for your time

I think you would really like it, I'm planning to go with a "power setup" very similar to what you have also.

I've got the Goerend single disk and VB in my tranny, and its been great. My truck is stock for now, but not for long . I had the transmission rebuilt and the new components put in my a guy who is on this site that goes by mcmopar, he deals with lots of Goerend stuff so send him a PM and he can tell you pretty much anything about them that you need to know.

I think my tranny will hold up to 400hp, so it sounds like a tranny setup similar to mine is exactly what you are looking for.

Be sure ot also get a VB to go with the TC!

I dont have the single disk, but I have the triple disc and fully built trans by goerands, and I love it,, works exactly as he said it would. I would recommend Dave to anyone, he will answer any questions you have and he himself will talk to you. Best money I have ever spent on my truck

What does one of Daves Single Disk TC's go for? I know his Triple is 1050 w/o a warranty, and 1250 with one. But how much is the single disk, and I'm guessing he doesn't offer a warranty on that.

I had a Goerend single and VB on my 12v with a 215 pump and a PS 64. It ran great with out any problems and never slipped under any load. I don't know how much hp it was putting out but the pump went on another truck and made over 600hp. I think it will hold up pretty good as long as you have a good valve body. I just ordered another single and VB for my 24v b/c of my experience with it on my 12v.

Yes, he offers a 100K mile warranty on the single and if u decide to upgrade to a triple, he will give u credit towards it. I think one of his singles and a valve body would work fine for what plans SharpMachine has for his truck. A valve body is definitely a must

Thanks,

I appreciate the replys. I will talk to them first, but I think I will give a single a shot. Any other replies would be great as well.

Let me know how it works out, I just did a TransGo shift kit, seems to not be working with my truck, but I'll get it figured out. I'd like to hear more about the single disk since it seems to hold up fine, and 100k miles is a long time, like 4 or 5 years on my truck.

Just found this thread, maybe I can give y'all some answers. I did start out with a transgo shift kit, and Goerend's single disc converter. Stall speed was awesome over stock, but I could still slip it at lower RPM's in overdrive. It does in fact have a 100k mile warranty, and when I went to the triple disc, he put the 650 i spent on the single disc, towards the triple, so I was out no money for giving it a try. I feel like If I had of been running Daves valve body at the time, I wouldnt have been able to slip it, but the Transgo doesent offer the pressure that Dave's VB does. I think Dave's single, and his valve body together should probably hold 350-400hp no problem, but I didnt have the VB when I had my single disc. I can't bash his single at all. It was head over heels better than the stock one I also have a buddy running a 24 valve with a rebuilt tranny, Goerend Single Disc, tweaked VB from the guy that built the tranny, and he has a comp, 275's, and a FASS for power. It is a great running truck, and he loves his single so far. He has had it for over a year now. He said it doesent slip at all, and does great. So over all I think it was the lack of a VB that was causing mine to slip. If y'all have any more questions, just shoot em my way

Eric
