Another TURBO BARK Thread...Sorry.

I have searched, so don't tell me the "do a search your dork" thing! Most threads I've found are two or three years old and I have yet to find an easy solution, unless I missed it on any of the others.

Problem (if this really is a problem): II 62/14 under hard shift barks like crazy.

Question: Good or bad? I've read both, still not sure how I feel.

Solution: Turbo Guard (too expensive), take my foot out of it easier (not what you need to do when racing), or decrease the boost pressure by the wastegate setting or defueling the box more (hello, I'm trying to make power, not delete it). Or, JUST GIVE IT HELL and don't worry about it.

Thoughts, suggesions, bullets? Just shoot me. I thought I had it all figured out two days ago.....more mods...more issues.!.!.!.!.! This stuff is addictive!

Not that this will help. My set up with a banks box used to bark hard when I would let off the throttle quick. With the edge juice w/tude its not as noticable. I wonder why? The boost elbow??

You know, I didn't think of that. I didn't transfer the EDGE BOOST ELBOW over to my new turbo. I just put it on with the one that came from II. I wonder if this could be the problem/solution?

Any takers on answering that question? I'm waiting for II to call me back. They must be busy this moring.

Dont hold me to it but i dont think you need to put that boost elbow in a aftermarket turbo, just for your stock one cause it will make crazy boost if you do...I think

my II sps62/14 came with a boost elbow. it barks. I talked to brett at II and he said not to worry with a sps. they'll take it. but i still try to limit the amount of barking.

Most turbos will bark when getting out of the fuel too quickly. You can use a blow off valve to help reduce the barking. I wouldn't worry about it unless the noise drives you crazy...

In a race application with a 6 speed maybe the answer is to just never let out of the fuel and just bang off the rev limiter..

turbo bark is one of the hardest things on turbos. will wear your bearings out quit fast if you do it alot and since his does it every shift, totally not good. i would definetly get the BD turbo gaurd blow off valve. NOTE it does involve fabrication to install but you wont have any more turbo bark after you do. go to BD website and look up there turbo gaurd you wont be sory.

True enough, I was thinking of shaft breakage not bearing wear.

Well, I just did a show and tell at lunch and it definately wasn't as fast as it was yesterday. I had turned the max boost down on my attitude to 45 from 38 to try to minimize bark and removed those flow tubes because I didn't like the horrible idle. Hopefully, I can just tweek the boost back up and not have to re-install those dang tubes. I hate that idle, but I lost ponies somewhere here....I sure hope I don't have to recall that post I put on the "high flow tube" link today about them.

I sure wish I had a dyno in my shop!!!!

Dork.

I just learned to shove my foot through the floor mat. I still can't hardly get my truck reverse if it is standing still. I hate it. Everything is SO EXPENSIVE! I want an adjustable clutch, I want a better lift pump, I want......BROKE NOW! I done dropped $3500! You pay to play I guess. I wish I knew how to take an older adjustable clutch out of something at the junk yard and make it work for little money.

When did you put that 62/14 on? I swapped mine in July and encountered the exact same thing as you initially, but it has lessened in the past couple weeks. I was told by Doug @ PDW to stay into it hard between shifts to keep it from barking and sure enough that does the trick when unloaded.... towing is another story altogether.

I spoke with member Charlie8301 about the BD turbo guard..... it does great for those times when you let off the pedal quick, but not between shifts (he and I both have autos).... but since you have a manual it may be exactly what you need. Quite pricey, but nonetheless....

Is there anything on these trucks that isn't???? I just put it on last Saturday. I can't stay in it because I can't shift fast enough thanks to these factory clutch pushers.
