So, who has the thickest, gnarliest intercooler boots available?

I don't care how hard they are to install or really how much they cost. I want something that is super thick, high-grade silicone, and comes with the really fancy spring-loaded, nylock-nutted clamps.

I know the PDR boots are famously difficult to install, but are they that strong?

What about BD?

Mr. Bob's?

Anyone else?

Same here. The way I look at it is if they are good, a guy should only have to do it once anyways. Easy to install to me just means easy to slide back on after blowing it off on the street.

Those look great. The clamps are T-bar, and don't have springs. Not the the springs are some kind of magic or anything.

I ordered my set from Advanced Diesel Technology, they are twice as thick as the BD boots & twice as easy to install because the fit is perfect. I blew a BD boot sled pulling this year, split a 4" hole in it. I'd get the ones from Doug...very nice boots. I think he said they are PDR boots, but I'm not sure.

If you try to run more than about 50 psi the spring clamps are a waste of time and money. The clamps need to be tightened to the point where the spring is fully stacked and then some. Also the springs require you to use a wrench to unwind the nut for a thousand turns before it is loose enough to use your fingers to open the clamp enough to get the boot over the tube hump.

I use the BD boots and threw away the springs. I replaced them with an aluminum spacer and now can remove and install a boot in seconds instead of minutes. I just hate lying in the snow by the side of the road reattaching the boot at the intercooler with those dang spring clamps.

I found that 100-inch pounds using the BD boots would keep them from blowing off. Here is a shot of my spring delete mod. Oh, And did I mention I hate those spring clamps?

Try stylin motors. Google them. I got blue boots with clamps and they are THICK. Good price. I think they are rated at 100psi, maybe more.

Stylin motors do not make the boots anymore. A few months ago I tried, called them up, and it is a no-go.

It may sound a little jimmy rigged but I used a piece of 3" tanker hose for a boot. They are THICK, hard to install(takes a little patience), and handle 150psi. Its thick rubber with steel reinforcement wire wound inside the rubber. Got two feet of it for about $20 bucks at the local hose shop
