SO vs HO lift pump

my '99 has a just the stock lift pump in it and a friend of mine was tellin me about puting a ho lift pump in it from a '02. are they compatible and what are the advantages and disadvantages of swaping them out?

SO and HO is not referring to lift pumps...its referring to injector pumps (the much dreaded VP44).

IF he is talking about lift pumps, they are identical on both HO and SO trucks.
