Question SCOTTY II & Water

I'm sure this has been addressed, I just can't seem to fine any old threads. Should I be concerned with water intrusion from rain, snow etc. from where the 4.5" hole is drilled?

No concern at all. I've even hosed my windshield down with it running.

Scotty tied as hard as he could to get one wet before he sold even the first one with no luck.

I asked the same question when I first did mine. Well, I'm here to tell you from first hand experience that you can not suck water into that thing in any way, shape, or form.

In a situation where water would get into the intake of a scotty equipped truck you'll start to contemplate life vests or scuba gear. You'll also need lots of other parts like interior, a turbo (They dislike cold water on hot housings), maybe radiators, likely a cooling fan etc after having the truck salvaged by a boat, crane or whatever.

Fishcop:

I agree 100% with what the other DTR Members have already
told you. Water issues ARE NOT a problem with the Scotty
I or II. I have had them both on my trucks and have NEVER
had a problem with that! I even drove my 96' in hurricane
rain and wind when Hurricane Floyd hit us back in 1999!!
No problems at all!! Scotty did and excellent job in his
research and testing on these filters!

One problem I've had with the Scotty is when driving with all the windows up and the climate control on any position except off or recirc at 35 psi boost it sucks the air out of the cab and makes my ears pop. Really. I've learned to crack a window before hitting a hill.
TAG unit makes the Scotty 100% quieter in the cab.

Another problem with the Scotty II is that after the first time your dad rides in your truck, he always comments on how it sounds just like is old "78 Ford Whatever they were"

He loves the sound of my truck, but hates the noise at idle, GO FIGURE .

Otherwise, the Scotty is an excellent fiter.
