Scotty II hole

How much will the Scotty II decrease my EGT's if I
don't put the hole in my cowl and just run the one
factory opening in the fender. I'll be running the 4"
exhaust and DDTTM.

None.
It gets all of it's gain from the hole in the cowl.

Yes it will reduce EGT with just the fender inlet. Not sure why Mike says it does not.
Perhaps try your factory air box first, then put the Scotty in with the insulation flap over the cowl hole and compare.

It will not reduce nearly as much heat as using both but this way you have the option of one or both holes.

Time to flush.

So I have a question for you all who have the scotty, how much more turbo sound is there with the scotty and the hole cut out compared to a BHAF?

EGT drop with the Scotty depends on how much power or how heavy you are towing.
On a stock truck, the bhaf does similar in reduction.
Put more power to it and the Scotty II gradually takes over on max EGT reduction.
On a truck with 400-500 horse, there is 250F and better reduction compared to a stock air box. Adding 100 HP will net you in the 150F range. Anything below that will be in the 75-100F range. the limiting factor when dealing with higher horsepower eventually becomes the turbo. I ran a B-1 KS on my 01 with TST comp box and custom DD 3's, I had a hard time getting up over 1300 on grades. Towing was safe all the time too. Unless I hit a real steep grade with a heavy load...then I would back down a gear.

The sound of the Scotty II is more then the BHAF. Your best bet is to find a truck that is near you and decide from there. Several individuals on here have Scotty II's maybe then can comment.
I liked the sound. A few disliked it.

Cut the Hole. Against your firewall is an insulation pad.
When not towing, cover the hole with the insulation.
When towing fold the insulation back out ot the way for maximum cooling.
I installed mine in July 04. It worls great.

I didn't see alot of noise differnce between the BHAf and the scotty, my wife did at first but now doesn't notice it that much. The egt I never noticed a huge differnce but I haven't had the fifth wheel out lately until the snow buggers off, so I'll see in the spring I am guess that's where it is going to shine. The truck at WOT on kill with my mods will see 1500 plus very quick still, but I have a turbo that is just past it's cooling capability so unfair test.My son who is 3 always thinks the cops are coming when the turbo spools
