I just put a K&N oval cone filter (RF-1024) on the end of the stock turbo to airfilter hose since $$ didn't permit a Scotty yet. The filter sits right where the airbox used to be. Is there any benefit to cutting the hole now or should I wait until I can afford the Scotty? If there is a benefit could someone direct me to a site where I can learn where to make the hole? I already know it is made with a 4.5" hole saw. BTW if anyone wants a budget set up like this, all I bought besides the filter for $50 was a $2 PVC coupler and a $2 metal band from the local hardware store. It seems to work well and it sounds like the turbo is gonna jump out from under the hood and kick some a$$ on its own. I haven't turned on the stereo since I put it in this morning, AAHHHHHH the sweet sound of a spooled turbo!!

Oh yeah, it will help you out. Daniel (CMNS PWR) did this to his truck, and he said he noticed a difference with the hole cut. A scotty will only add to it.

atc250r, From what I have seen drill the hole would do you much good because you would still be getting the hot under hood air. In fact I would guess that hardly any of the air from the hole would get into the filter. Also when not moving you would get alot of engine smell in the cab.<br><br>I would hold off until you got the CooOOoooOOOoooOOOOLest Air sucking system out there.<br>
