SB 3250 Dual Disc

Well it's come time for a new clutch, as mine started slipping pretty bad in 4th and 5th gears. I am strongly considering te 3250 DD from SB, but haven't read too many things about it. I am wanting to get some info from people that actually have this clutch about everyday drivability, engagement, shifting, noise, etc... Anything you have to say about this clutch, good and bad, please share. Thanks in advance.

It is a great clutch for daily driving, towing. Quite quiet for a dual disc, but my fluidamper might be helping with that. Clutch is a little harder than stock, but very smooth. I would recommend this clutch to anyone, Peter backs his clutches up 100%. Great guy to deal with!

Mine is louder than stock, with the window down if you push the pedal in it makes some noise, but nothing too loud I chattered at first (normal before it breaks in) but it's nice and smooth now, holds up to boosted launches, too. Only ever heard great things about SB, when I called to order and ask questions they were very helpful.

Certainly going to be louder than stock, but you are losing essentially a whole other un-needed part in there too (DMF).

I have about 16K miles on mine so far, all different driving conditions. Probably the best mod I have done, practicality wise.

If you plan on pulling with it get a 3850 or iron giant!

The author doesn't have a G-56 like us. I was impressed with the 3250 DD I drove on an '05 G-56. Low speed 2nd gear downshifting was a little touchy, kinda like worn synchros. I don't know if that goes away or not. RPM matching gets rid of it,but it might get old in a stop and go situation. Engagement/disengagement at idle was like stock. No reving it up or anything. The shop that installed this guy's clutch was very complementary. This site has a good price.

Oops, I see that now.

Well, either way, the clutch is top notch. Customer service and service AFTER the sale is excellent also.

For the best pricing, contact Lary at the DTR store, I've made a few big ticket purchases from him and have always been treated great.

I was debating between the 550 hp single and the 3250 Dual. I have heard some negative things about rough engagement with the single from takeoff, and also while backing up trailers. Can you start out in 2nd gear with the DD like you can with a stock clutch? A buddy of mine has either the 3600 or the 3800 and says he has to start in 1st gear unless he gives it quite a bit of throttle.

I start in 2nd all the time, no different than stock. In the first few weeks, it was rough, and chattered but Peter at SB said to break it in a little, I should sit on flat ground, and just begin to let the clutch engage, before the truck really moves, at that moment you give the pedal a quick "hit" and jump the rpms up, so it sort of slips the clutch a little, helps clean out the contact area. The shifting was a little rough, but after doing the above and normal driving for a while it got a lot better. Only thing that feels different than stock now is reverse, still chatters a little during partial engagement(slipping).

Sounds like the clutch for me. I like your Dyno numbers. I'm shooting for 500-550 at the wheels with mine as well. Hopefully I can be there before too long, lol. Thanks again guys.
