Don't listen to Blue. Use a pipe plug. Most are 1/8 inch NPT.

Pipe threads "NPT" are tapered, that is the reason for using an NPT plug. If you cranked the bolt into the hole, an NPT fitting may not fit for the next guy.

Cranking a bolt into NPT may also crack the manifold. Two reasons: The bolt is not tapered, but parallel thread, and the bolt is a different, hard material that expands/contracts different than the manifold. The pipe plug should also be iron, like the manifold. The brass fittings for the pyro's I have seen (mine is waiting to be installed this weekend ) are softer than the cast iron, so they may expand/contract differently, but the surrounding iron is much stronger and doesn't crack.

Do I need to put the pipe plug in the exhaust manifold or into the fitting that is in the manifold where the lead wire screws into??

I plugged my formerly post-turbo pyro hole with a brass pipe plug. IMHO, it's the "right" way to do it with minimal manifold risk.

My isspro is 1/4 NPT. Use a brass, pipe, plug. Any hardware should have one for a dollar or so. Brass won't sieze to the manifold, or strip threads if you goof. Probably won't crack your manifold as steel may. when it expands with heat. I used one for awhile myself, without any issues.

If you're one of those guys who want your truck to sound like a dump truck and like to remove the turbo silencer ring leave the hole open.
