Hole Location For Pyrometer

I am needing to poke a hole in the exhaust manifold of my 89 1st Gen. engine for the sending unit of the pyrometer to screw in.

The logical place seems to be on top right behind the turbo.

It looks to me like Cummins was awfully stingy with the size of these manifolds.

Is there any danger of my manifold deciding to break after drilling a hole in this location??

Where is the recommended spot to locate the pyrometer send-unit??

A picture would help.

Thanks for helping.

Never heard of one cracking around the pyro hole.

Thank you very much..

That is exactly where I had marked to drill; but I wanted expert advice before I proceeded.

DO NOT drill in the middle. The specs say 2" back from the machined flat where the turbo is and 5/8 from the center line of the mani. check out TST`s web site for more info.
