Remote starter?

I am wanting to put a remote starter switch on my truck and am wanting feedback on where to get a quality unit from? __________________________________________________ _____________ 2001 Quad Cab 4x4,Goerend Trans,PS62/12,Jammer II's,Smarty,Scottys Big Line Fuel Kit,Full Pillar Gauges

I bought one of these $59 wonders just for the keyless entry but ended up hooking the whole thing up. Been working great for seven years. Have also installed the same unit in four other trucks, no complaints. It doesn't monitor the wait to start light but allows you to adjust how long after pushing the button the ignition is on before cranking. Works just fine

Beware, the install of any remote is very time consuming, even after five times it took me over eight hours, first time 14 hours.

I have remotes installed at a local shop for $100. They do them all the time, it takes them about 3 hours, and they fix any issues also. Money well spent in my book.

You can pick up a unit from a autoparts store such as pep boy, autozone ect. You can also pick up one from a car audio shop or Best buy or curcuit city. Most of the remote start units have features for diesels, the wait to start part. They are pretty easy to install yourself and will save you about 100 bucks or so. I put one in my girlfriends jeep and saved 150 bucks on the install. You can find a wire diagram for you truck on the internet and just follow the instruction that come with the remote start unit.

I'm really happy wuth my viper. The viper waits for the the wait to start light to cycle off before it starts, some other systems are just on a timer. It also has a turbo cool down timer built in.

Many of the kits available online have wire kits available for around $25 that allow you to simply plug in many of the starter's wires, such as the ones for the steering column. Thats the most intensive part of the install (along with the door locks), so its money well spent.

I wanted to get one for my truck, but after owning it for a winter, I know it wouldn't work. I need to give it a fair amount of throttle for it to start in really cold weather, so a remote starter wouldn't work. I may get one eventually just to use at home when its plugged in, to save having to run outside right after crawling out of bed to start it and let it run. That shouldn't be an issue for your 24 valve.
