I installed a $59 Valiant brand from JC Whitney just for the keyless entry then figured what the heck and did the full install. Been working great for six years now, but won't always start the truck when it's cold unless it's plugged in. It does cycle the grids for 30 seconds but sometimes that's just not enough, would probably start it everytime if I bumped the idle up for the winter. When plugged in it starts every time even when -30F.
The install took quite a bit of time, at least ten hours.

have one on mine.....real straight forward. There are those that operate by tach signal and those that operate by voltage to know when to pull the starter off. With the grids pulling on the alternator at idle, voltage willl drop and sometimes fake out the auto start making it think the truck died. It will then shut down and restart. So be sure to get one that utilizes a tach start option at least. Bulldog security makes a nice one that has a cool down timer built in to it, as well as a tap for the wait to start light to let the grids cycle before cranking. Deluxe 500 is the unit. Has a 1/2 mile range with a two way remote that shows you if the truck is running if you can't see it. Around $100. They're website also has great wiring color charts and locations to take the homework out of it. They also offer a T-Harness that makes most of the install plug and play.....just unplug the ignition sw, plug the harness into it, then the factory harness back into it again. Anyway, that's the one I like and use now. Also has a lifetime parts gaurantee.

yes, the Bulldog Security (JBS technologies) deluxe 500 can, and yes, it is WAY under 500 bones. Get the $14 tee harness and half the job is done in 10 minutes.

I installed one of these $75 wonders on a fellow's manual over a year ago. No complaints, and knowing him as I do he would have definitely complained if there was problem. Tons of features on it.

$14? It said 19.99 when I just checked..

I wouldn't use a 'brand x' remote starter myself as I already have a DEI alarm. Just need the Remote start module. T harness could be nice even for that so I don't have to cut the wires. They dont often give you much slack to work with.

deluxe 500 IS just an autostart. I've installed bulldog at my shop for years.......good stuff. Tee harness gives about 14" slack wire for better placement of module. And you're right...list is $19.99...was thinking of my cost.

Anyway, just thought I would add
