Rear Suspension Idea
Rear Suspension Idea
OK I have and idea to modify my 01 with a air bag suspension. If i were to remove all leaves in the pack but the two mains and install the airbags in a over spring configuration. With the addition of torque bars the lentgh of the drivline would i need to instal a panhard bar to help center the axle and would i have a axle wrap issue with the set up even using torque rods. Just an idea i am toying with for my truck when i return to germany and get to play under the hood again. Might improve the ride and still keep the load bearing ability of the truck.
Ok i have done a few rear suspensions on lighter trucks with coil-overs and old truck style radius arms and a panhard bar was just trying to go an easier route as to the lack of garage time in germany to build it up with a 4 or 5 link system. so the basic idea is didtch all the springs in the pack but the two mains and then air-bag it and build up some torque bars to prevent axle wrap and i should be able to do it with a minimum amount of down dime and no playing with suspension geomerty formulas. just a lil idea since towing and wt capacity have gone out the window in germany.
