Quick EZ question

If I unplug the CanBus connector on my EZ, does it act as a boost fooler only?

I did a bunch of searches and came up empty. I'm just curious how my truck will run on DD2's only with a boost fooler.

Thanks guys!!

What you need to do it disconnect the Data Link. The MAP part of the EZ will still function. Very smooth power this way, and the engine seems a lot happier than with the EZ pounding it with so much timing clatter. I've run mine like this several times and it works very well as just a boost fooler.

Thanks bwat4!!

I gave it a try and like it!!!!

With the EZ on it's most aggresive setting and the DD2's, this thing used to smoke like a coal train on Prozak during low boost situations, boost was 36 psi at WOT, cruise temps at 70mph were around 600 degrees and the power was GREAT!!!!!! And with the timing clatter thrown in, it sounded like a truck!

Now with the EZ acting as a boost fooler only and the DD2's, it's a totally different truck! No timing clatter makes it way quieter, in low boost situations it smokes a little more than just using the EZ alone. Cruise temps at 70 mph are about 80 degrees lower. Power delivery is a lot smoother, it doesn't have the "hit" that this combo does when the EZ is timing also. Boost is down to 32 psi.

Totally different truck!!

Now another question concerning this mod......

Do you think it's possible to install a switch into the Data link harness (only 3 wires) and make the EZ switchable between boost fooler and boost fooler/timing?
The weatherpak connectors are available, switch shouldn't be a problem to turn on/off 3 wires at the same time.

What do you think? I like the idea of being able to turn the timing portion on and off. I'm sure my neighbours wouldn't mind not hearing the marbles in a can rattle at 5:00 am every morning.
