Question for ya guys

Im new in the dodge truck scene.... looking to buy a 99 3/4 ton.... How hard is it to make these trucks get down the track fast.... I'm used to owning cars and want a truck but i'll still have the bug in me for some speed. How hard is it to run a 13 in one of these bad boys... is the stock turbo, fuel, intercooler sufficient?(im sure propane injection would be a must) thanks in advance guys..

13's are definately an obtainable goal, especially with a 2nd gen. To get there your probably looking at a box (Edge Comp or TST Pmax3), upgraded turbo, and larger injectors. Propane really isnt needed to make a Cummins go fast.

Thats just a basic list of what youd probably need to get to the 13's. You also gotta think about a tranny and small stuff like gauges, intake, fuel system upgrade, etc....

Look back through the forum and youll see what other people have done. Welcome to the site.

For the 13's, you'll need:

Guages: EGT, Boost, Fuel Pressure, Tansmission temp(only if you have an auto)
Transmission: Auto: Any one of the big companies(DTT, ATS, Suncoast, Goerend) Manual: South Bend Clutch. Period.
Fuel System: FASS or RASP. Or one of the various Holley pump setups.
Intake: Scotty 2. If that won't work, then an AFE Mega Cannon
Fueling Box: Edge Comp or TST PM3 Comp
Injectors: Mach 5's outgha do. If not, Mach 6's for sure.
Turbo: Probably one of the B1 series

That right there should be more than enough to break your bank account. I put them in order in what I think should be first.

I'd throw a 4" exhaust in there too between the box and injectors

At weekend on the edge i ran a 13.9 and with that setup on a twin roller mustang dyno i was putting down 373HP. I had what my signature states except i was using some 3 flow extrude-honed injectors. The tranny parts are the biggest hit to the wallet but without them there is no way i could have gotten into the 13's. It took launching with about 20PSI of boost in 4HI. Around 400 RWHP is a good estimate of what it takes to get there with an auto tranny. Of course thats high 13's.

Lay off the propane... Save it for your water heater...

ON a CTD, it will just help you blow a head gasket, especially with any additional timing advance (edge Products)....

If 13's was my goal...I know it would be a lot cheaper on a 1/2 ton V8 gasser.

Stock, my truck ran about a 17.5 second quarter. So it has cost about $3K/second to get to a 12.5 - way more fun than playing the stock market

Did 14.2 sec (see signature) from a 4WD, 0 boost start...no power braking, due to no billet "stuff". Would also need a BD RAD to eliminate defueling on 2nd Gen. Truck.

After pricing all the above..I decided my 3 passes at the drag strip are fast enough..for this lifetime. Think I saved myself a lot of money....but it sure was fun while it lasted!
