Question about the HX35-40 hybrid
Question about the HX35-40 hybrid
They offer a 6 blade or a 8 blade wheel any one know what the different characteristics of these are?I am looking for some thing that will give me 30lbs of boost at 2700 and not be past its map from what I have read the stock turbo is past and that is why the exh temps climb. I tow about 75% of the miles put on the truck at around 19k . I have stock head gasket and bolts for now that is why the 30lbs I want to go to studs when I have the money to do so. I am also thinking of going to the 14cm2 wastegated turbine housing.
I have an older PDR hybrid HX35, and it does pretty well at 30 lbs. of boost in the mid 2000 rpm range. Granted, I have a 24 valve but I don't think that makes much difference for the purpose of this discussion.
For what it's worth, I think the PDR hybrids use a smaller compressor wheel than the other hybrids on the market.

It is a 180hp motor.5spd 4:10 gears. The size and blade count are the question. I was looking for info on if one was better than the other for the rpm I will be running at.
I know the different between the 6 and 8 blade 60mm inlet diameter wheels is the 6 blade has a larger major diameter (the big side of the wheel) than the 8 blade, IIRC the 8 blade 60mm wheel has the same major diameter as the smaller wheels.
I little machining is necessary to run a 6 blade 60mm on and HX35 housing.
