HX 40/35 hybrid vs. HX35 14 CM

I have an exhaust brake and dont want to loose it so I have to stick with a 3" outlet. Is the 40/35 hybrid going to produce much lower EGT's than the 35 with 14 cm housing? I can get the 40/35 for about 350 buck more than the 14 cm housing. I just want to do it once. Want to get the turbo on Saturday (tomorrow). Any suggestions on these.

The HX35/40 hybrid with a 14 cm housing is a very good turbo for towing in higher altitudes.

I got my stock turbo modified to this combination for under $500 with a used 14 exhaust housing. Cost of the modification, itself, was around $200.

Yes, as B.T. mentioned, you will probably want to do BOTH.

The hybrid is just the front half of the turbo, you use your own exhaust housing (stock = 12cm2).

you can buy the parts to hybrid your own turbo on the truck for about $200.00. I have posted the source a couple of times in older threads.

It will move considerably more air, helping EGTs some (don't expect miracles).

The 14cm2 housing will also help, since it is reducing exhaust restriction. It will slow down the turbo a little, which would be a good thing if you have the hybrid and big injectors like me. ;D

I am running the HX40/16cm non wastegated housing on mine an I am very happy with it. It definitely helped with the EGTs since I picked up a few lbs of boost. I hope to get back to the track with it soon to see what kind of MPH it picks up.
