Possible?

Has anyone out there swapped a 98-2000 auto to a manual? I don't want to spend all this money on an auto when I'd rather just have a manual. If you have how much was it and what all did you need? Or who did the swap for you? Anyone know of a shop in the US that will do the swap? Thanks for any and all help guys (and gals)!
Matt

I'ld suggest finding that yr mod in a wrecked truck for the parts , it will make the time looking them shorter for whoever works on it and that means cheaper, then you may have some left over parts to make some money back. pretty much everybody tacks on a % to the parts another savings.

Has anyone paid a shop to do this or has it mostly been do it at home / yourself? I'm not that mechanically talented, so I'm hoping for a shop that might be able to do it. I emailed ATS to see if they would. Waiting on reply. Thanks guys!

I,ll make a ruff guess with all the parts on hand [ becouse for shop to get tied up wating for this do dad and that is time and time is $$$ , also the parts need to be off of the donner truck other wize theres that labor also , both of these are big reasonds why most that do it do it them selfs becouse this is almost considered costum work and that runs more per. hr. , maybe 1 1/2-3 times normal shop rates , but now my guess with that in mind is a min. 1,000 bucks and with all the considerations above , and it wouldn't supprise me if you would get a quote as high as 2,500 , and if your going to have them gather up all the parts ???

I'm aware ist's gonna be a lot (always a relative question) but I think I'd rather spend 3500 truing to get the truck converted then buying an ats or dtt auto that i'll get bored with and still want a manual. I know now, that I should have just bought a stick to begin with. But seriously, no one out there has had a shop do this for them?

I know there are people out there who have done it on a 12v, but I think the computers have to be switched on the 24v to make it work correctly.

what exactly would you get bored with in a good tranny? the firm shifts? the lack of slipping? not needing to leave the comp off to save the tranny?

something to consider since you are going to add a manual you are gonna need the $1000+ clutch to hook up some power

$1000-clutch
$1500-parts
$1500-labor

ouch! that is enough for a good tranny and some goodies

This subject has been discussed often...and once fully researched...been rejected. Lot of work...a lot of money...and a lot of headaches from the computer end of it!
Bad Idea, JMO.
