Question Opinions on performance modules

I recently purchased a 2002 2500 with HO diesel 6-speed manual. I noticed an edge performance module under the hood. I understand it increases HP and Torque. What does it do to mileage and has anyone had a negative experience like an induced failure due to these modules.

If the module mounts under the hood, it's an Edge EZ.

It can do anything from nothing to mileage to a small increase in mpg. Some people with lead feet get less.

You will NOT see any induced failures do to a module like this. Just drive the truck as if it was stock (i.e., don't lug it with high load at low RPM) and it will live a long happy life as much as any stock truck could.

If you decide to add injectors someday, I'd suggest recalibrating the EZ (move the little jumpers under the side panel) to a more conservative setting. With bigger injectors, the extra bottom end fueling is pointless.

See my profile for pics of the EZ jumpers (I think)

Any additional mods and you'll want to upgrade your fuel system to save yer VP44...fact is you should have fuel pressure gauge now for the same reason...

What range fuel pressure gauge? I have seen 0-30 and 0-100. Also, where is a good source for pillar gauge sets

0-30 guage is perfect, you dont want more then 25psi or so, ideally anywhere between 12-20 is what your aiming for.

I have an Edge EZ too. I am considering bypassing it to prove whether it is providing any increase in fuel economy. Question is, how do I eliminate it from the system? The "T" shaped cable that attaches the module to data link & map sensor appears to be from Edge. Can I simply disconnect it or is there a replacement cable?

The lowest prices and best service for gauges can be found at http://www.vulcanperformance.com. Anyone one else have full Danin gauge packages for under $300. ?

As for the EZ, just disconnect the harness and re-connect the factory connections and your good to go.

I gotta ask WHY? The EZ will increase your MPG if you drive it with that in mind. But....like most reading this thread, why bother? Let it rip!

Get some gauges, bigger injectors, sell the EZ, get a Drag Comp.......

I bought my gauge set (isspro) from VulcanPerformance too. I got fp, boost, and pyro gauges with a pod, shipped to my door 2nd day air for under $300. Only thing it didn't include was wiring for the gauge lights, I had to make that myself, but it was no biggy. I believe if you go with DieselManor, they include everything. VulcanPerformance makes their own fuel pressure isolator and supposedly it holds up better than the other ones. If I had to do it all over again though, I'd run a braided stainless fuel line to my gauge with a snubber valve and totally eliminate the isolator...that 1/8" line fromt the isolator to the gauge is such a pain to fill with coolant and get all the air out of it, especially if your trying to not make a mess.
