Performance Modules (TST, BDCL, Quad)
Ok, I am not only confused....my brain hurts.
I've searched, and read, and searched again. I've read the different posts about the units and which stack well with others.
My conclusions:
TST and BDCL.....seems to be THE stack. Unfortunately, it seems that even on some of the lower settings, it seems to smoke a bit. I really like the ultimate gains with this set up, but to be honest, I am a bit leary of a downloader. I just had the TSB reflash......does the BDCL downloader copy this to itself before it reflashes?
Many are happy with the Xzillaraider, and seems to keep the smoke down. Don't get me wrong, I am not against smoke, just not excessive smoke.
Quads customer service is nothing short of legendary, at least IMO, and from what I have read. I really like having that much confidence in a purchase. The only problem that I can see with this idea is that nothing really stacks WELL with the Xzilleraider, at least from what I have read. Am I wrong? I did read about the VA 3.2, but will that work with my 04.5??
I just can't seem to make a decision about what I have read. Now, there is another hitch in my plan....Quads latest post about a new box from them.
Quad,
To make my choice even harder, could you answer a question for me? Am I correct in my interpretation of your message from a few days ago that you are in R/D on a box that will stack with your Xzillaraider?? So you will have both a Quad fueling box and a Quad timing box??
HELP!! I am a bit confused, and I want to make a purchase in the next few days.

Yes we will have at least 2 more boxes coming that will stack with our current products. You will be able to make as much power as your fuel system will supply.
You can either get there by stacking or we will have some all in one units, but they will still be a little ways out.

Well, I don't want to wait for the first module anymore. I have waited a year and some change for the chance/time/money to get one of these on my ride.
When you say "a little ways out", how much time are we talking about?? 6 months?? A year??
I have no problem with waiting for an additional module to stack with, because either way I do it, I will be waiting for one of them (financially). I would prefer to stay with your Xzillaraider Race Module and some other future product if I can.
I'll be honest when I say that TST was my first choice, but it's a little deeper in my pocket that I can really afford to go. So, I am looking at all my viable options, and yours seems to be the best.
Oh, do you need a Beta Tester for any of this??
If you can't afford the fuel how can you afford the rest of the truck it will take to safely use it? Tranny and Turbo improvements are manditory and will cost you up to 10x what fuel supply will.

The other boxes are scheduled for sometime around January?

I am just a lowly military guy, and my 'fun/BOMB' aka "disposable income" money is often quite limited. I saved to get the truck I wanted, and waited a year (and my second tour in Iraq) to save the money to get the ball rolling. I am ready to spend the money to start the process, but that is just it...START.
A starter module, the gauges I need, and some exhaust/air work. That is what I am looking at now. In six months to a year, I'll work the upgraded clutch and in another year an upgraded turbo. As a side note...10X?? Let's try to be more reasonable/honest, why don't we.
To be as polite (while being painfully blunt) as I can, I asked for some additional opinions for the decision that I am trying to make. I didn't ask for anyone to belittle my decisions or attack my questions. As far as that goes, you can keep your opinion to yourself. My finances are my business.
Thanks for the help.

So, just guestimating...200-250hp stacked??
Thanks for the help on this Quad, at least I am close to making a more informed decision.
Yeah, but I am looking to stack boxes in a year or so. That is what I am trying to look ahead to. I've seen several people go through several boxes to find what they want. I can only make the purchase(s) one time, so I need to make sure that I have all my options lined up.
Thanks Rick, that is another vote for the race box, but I still need one or two more questions answered before I make my final decision.

I wish Quad had a stackable chip to go with the TST... Cause I can't give up that power

When I read this, I had interpreted this as the new timing gox itself would only give 25hp gains (total, not 25hp more than the Race or Standard box). Quad is really building this box for the guys out there who want increased mileage, but have a desire to keep their truck as close to stock as possible, hence why this new box is a timing only box. When stacked with the Race box, it sounds like the total stack would give around 150 - 165 total hp gains.
I don't know what your total hp goals are, but you'll find very quickly that your tranny doesn't like anything over 400HP. My truck is almost bone stock (with the exception of the Scotty Air Intake) and I laid down 400.3 HP and 728.8 TQ. With just the Quad Race box alone. My clutch slips in 6th on the 130 HP. If I were you, Id only be thinking about buying one box, and then start saving for a new tranny, then a turbo, THEN another box to stack. The Race box alone gets EGTS up pretty high.

But I do think you are correct in the idea that he is talking about a 25hp gain in the proposed new timing box.
Darn, just can't get an answer that I really like to this question. I guess I am probably going to have to go with my initial thoughts.
Thanks Blue!!

You are just determined to make me spend the money on the TST.
That has been my initial thought the entire time, but I must admit I just like the way Quad does business. I was hoping to work with them for my first box.
OK, OK.......TST and then down the road, the EZ. I had a Edge Comp on my Y2K and loved it, so I know about Edge products.
We have some other things that are coming that will be a lot more than 25hp increase and they will stack with our current products, but it will be a few months most likely and I don't like getting caught up in telling you it will be out soon when it won't be.
