oil lines for twins??
hello everyone hope you all had a great christmas
i sure did, i got tools!!! woohoo, but any ways i was wondering how all you twin turbo guys ran your oil lines, for the feed line to the bottom turbo did you guys just drill a hole next to the other turbo oil feed line or did you use a y splitter off the stock turbo line, also where do i drain the oil from the bottom turbo, do i have to drill a hole in my oil pan for the bottom turbo to drain into??? hope my questions made sense. and please, if possible could you guys post pics of your oil feed lines and drain tubes. thankyou

with ur truck, (assuming that you are talkin bout the 90 in ur sig) Even if you have the 95 motor, unfortunately for you, you will not have that convenient little frost plug that the 98.5 trucks and up have, and you will have to drill into the oil pan. That lil bugger is simple, you just pop the cover off, and tip the drain in there, (wish mine was that easy) anyways
Mine is setup with a bracket from Rip rook that bolts directly to an S400 and to the oil drain on the turbo, from there i run a rubber line to another piece i cut from the stock turbo oil drain, that is welded to the oil pan. Drilling the oil pan is not a problem either, its quite easy with a titanium step drill bit or a hole saw...
Far as I know its not safe for the turbos and their bearings to Y tap into an existing line, IIRC its bad for the bearings and can damage your turbos... but dont quote me on that...
FYI, the stock oil drain was replaced with a flexible oil drain..

Oil Feed Line for bottom turbo comes off second oil port on top of filter housing. Had to give up my oil temp gauge for it

Two reasons why I really didn't mind giving up Oil Temp gauge...
#1-Oil temp on a 5.9L Cummins is boring...does not need watching.
190* cool weather ...up to 75*
200* all summer long
210* if racing or towing
220* max-under worse conditions... towing on 100* day in hills, or multiple 1/4 mile passes in summer.
#2-Wanted that gauge hole (on dash pod) for primary turbo boost gauge.
Learned what I wanted to know from oil temp gauge.... have moved on.

hey thanks guys or the quick response, well the proble i have is that the other oil connection on the oil filter is for my preluber, yes i have a preluber and i like it, and definetly will not get rid of it, it makes oil changes faster than actually putting the new oil in. so can i drill a new hole in the top of the oil filter thing? thanks again.

the hole for the twins goes between the third and fourth bolts on the oil pan, starting from the back of the pan on the passenger side, count three or four bolts, and I THINK.. u go down something like a couple of inches, dont really remember the actual measurement but you go down a bit between the bolts and drill into the pan..
Naturally u change the oil afterwards, or flush out the pan with diesel... I changed my oil twice and had a magnet just to hold and get out as much as i could.. Changed my oil again at 500 miles after twins install and again at 1500... so far so good..

sweet, thanks rick, but what about the oil feed line to the second turbo, the other fitting on the oil filter housing im using for my pre luber, could i put a splitter on that and split it for the feed line to my bottom turbo and my pre luber? thanks again for all the help

will use the stock feed line location with an extension IIRC that u can get from Rip Rook (least my kit came with one), the stock turbo as you know is inverted on the manifold and still uses teh stock oil line. If you look right next to the top of the oil filter, you will see that there is a plug, U run a line that Rip Rook sells for the S400 from that little nipple thing, to the oil feed line on top of the second turbo, perhaps i need to take some pics, i need a digicam... But its just as easy as runnin a feed line to ur stock turbo...

Does anyone know the exact size and location that is best used for the bottom turbo drain into the oil pan? I am probably going to be replacing my pan/gasket tommorrow so I figure I'll add it while its off.
