now can I go smaller
now can I go smaller
After adding water/meth egts are more controllable. I would like to change the htb2 a little by going from a 14exh. to a 12 for quicker spool. The 14 spools quick now but a 12 would spool even quicker for my auto.
HTT won't have 12's in for about a month so I have a while to decide unless I find someone to trade with sooner.
What do you all think?
Thanks Mooseman

Well granted it would spool much quicker, but then you might run into your egt problem like you did before, especially with the Mach 4's and the Drag COMP........... How much did the meth setup cool you down?? I guess that would be good to know.......

Your talking about the trade off between better daily driving vs better top end. That's your choice. But I bet you can peg your EGT gauge with the 14cm2 housing when Drag comp is on 5x5.....even with the Injection system. I know I can with my Mach 4's.
Unless your done with drag racing and playing hard, your not going to be able to control EGT's with a 12 cm2 housing at WOT. Since you just spent time & money to try and control EGT's, I don't get taking a step backwards?
Having just gone from a 12 cm2 to a 14 cm2 housing myself, I know they take some getting use to.
If you came from the small housing of a stock HY-35, I'm sure it was a BIG difference, but I would give yourself 1-2 months to "learn" to drive the 14 you have. It's the best housing for your set up! And the Mach 4's make it easier with their low smoke at light throttle.
Tips that work for me - Keep OD off till 60-65 mph. It's only 2400 rpm +/- @ 65 mph...the 5 and 6 speeds go there all the time. When heavy or starting up on hills I manually shift into 2nd till 35 mph....makes a big difference. Driving with higher RPM's is the key. It won't hurt the engine or MPG....like I said, manual trannies go there all the time.
Learn to ease into the throttle till Boost comes up...becomes second nature after a while.
Just my opinion.

Crap RJ now youve got me thinking that I otta stick with the 12 for a bit, with 38" tires and 3.55 gears the bottom end sucks already, with a 14 I may be stuck smoking in the middle of the intersection hmm.
Well mooseman drop me a PM maybe we can discuss this a bit.
