new truck

Hey ya'll. I just had a few questions concerning my new truck. I just sold my 92 w250...hard to believe....but i bought a 95 3500 auto 4x4 and I am really happy with it....the auto is going to go here in a little while...finding swap parts daily. The 95 has 87k on her and is bone stock....talk about a clean slate

Anyhow.....I want this truck to have twins eventually...tons of head work....around 500/600hp and the proportional torque figure. It is just my daily driver...very occasionally tow a tractor or hay...usually not over 12,000lbs. I do not have the funds currently to build the twins or do the head work...so I am trying to plan a setup that can be built on later...and that still has towing capability and some "surprise" of the line...that is.....enough to kill a new truck or ricer. I am a big fan of low egts...I want to be able to accelerate without fear of heat concerns. Here is what I have planned (feel free to point out inexperienced stupidity ) :

4 GSK
181 dvs
timing
100 plate
s300 turbo (housing size?)
5in exhaust
afe intake

I have some of those parts.

Here is what i run...
hx35
Dynomite diesel stage 3 injectors
0 plate
14.5* of timing
3 gsk
191 DVs
AFE intake
4" exhaust

I don't think I'm anywhere near the kind of HP you want. I would be shocked if I topped 400hp on a dyno. This truck feels like 350 to 400 hp at the wheels if that.

I have a 160 pump because mine used to be an auto, now it's a 5 spd.

It drives great and my EGT's are reasonable. I don't tow heavy so I don't push the truck that hard.

Have fun with the new truck.

Thanks for the response man...i thought my question had gone unnoticed. I have the 160 pump also...kinda odd we had the same truck before you made yours pretty much a dream truck...good god man...sweet truck.

I'm not trying to make too much power yet....twins will be later.....(but i need to be able to run off and leave my brothers 1st gen....ahem....blackbanshee....you better be prepared son) SO I figure a turbo upgrade... enough fuel to supply a shuttle...timing....so forth...should make a fairly cool and workable power house.
Should I throw injectors in? Any more comments?

I did my sticks and DVs at the same time. My stock injectors were tired with 210,000 miles on them. I didn't want the shudder I heard about with the 160 pumps and bigger sticks so that's why I did the DVs at the same time. I would have gone with used 181s but none were around and I got the injectors used anyway so I had some cash left over.

I'm sticking with my little hx35 for a while. I just don't need more air right now and I don't have the money for a bigger charger.

The only reason I haven't jumped to 17 or 18 degrees of timing is my head. I am totally stock on the head so far and again, I don't feel like spending a bunch on it. Cause when it goes, I'll have to o-ring it and stud it or I'll kick myself. The only thing I hate worse than fixing things is fixing the same thing twice.

Thanks for the comments on the truck. It still needs a lot of work but it's getting there slowly.

Gauges is the first thing I would recommend followed by the intake and exhaust. If you are going to swap to a standard tranny, make sure you get a clutch that is up to the task.

I sold my 1st gen for a few reasons. I needed a 1 ton....I was going to convert it, but decided against it. It's not that i tow often...but when i did the 250 would pull it well...but I had to hold on to keep it on the road. The cost of finding a 1st gen dually 4x4 5spd was almost as high but the bank wouldn't loan enough on any nice 1st gen (stupid book values). The boy i sold it to has been wanting the truck since I bought it 3 or so years ago.....he's a friend...needed a truck badly....he is practically family....so I figured selling it to him would ease my mind a bit. I don't know man....i just wanted something different....i have owned a 97', a 99, a 91.5, a 92, and now the 95. I have always wanted a second gen with a 5spd....but found the 95 close by with 87k on it....original owner...an elderly man. So I am going to swap it over. I guess it is just how the situation fell into place. I do miss the 92....it was a truck, the epitome of a truck. I really wanted to get another 1st gen, but when i found the 95 i was shocked...its a mint truck....I bought it without hesitation. I still think that if you have a 1st gen..don't sell it. I'll have one again....i am catching absolute @#$%^! from my brother who has his 1st gen. I really like the 95 though....2nd gens have some very good points.....its a stout truck. I will miss the 92, like i said...but the 95 is a serious truck as well and I am going to have a blast with it. So long and keep it on the road 1st gens.....redwake
