I don't know about the ATS Tranny but can only say great things about the DTT tranny. It has held up to my Right foot and very heavy throttle without a problem. Great product, Great People, Great help.

Re:New aftermarket Tranny? DTT vs ATS for my 93

When I researched this last year I spoke with a number of different vendors. ATS, DTT, BD, Suncoast and a few others including some local shops. At the time ATS did not offer a performance rebuild for our transmission but would upgrade the a newer 47RE. This was understandable as that is their market focus. I found them very informitive and helpful. The cost of that kind of upgrade was considerably more than I was willing to spend. MAybe they offer more now. I did finally settle on DTT even though they were more expensive than some others but I felt you got alot more for the little extra spent. I have no regrets with my choice.

Best advise I can give is make lots of phone calls, Listen to what they have to say, decide how you plan on using the truck and how much exrta power you want to throw at it.

Jay

You can't go wrong with either in my opinion.

But he only asked about DTT and ATS and from what I've learned/heard about both setups, you can't go wrong with either. If I had the money, I'd go full ATS. Heck, I even had the Triple Lock sitting in my backseat. Then my dad made me ship it back. :'(

I would encourage you to contact Bob A.K.A "Bushy" on this forum and "Bushwakr" on the TDR forum. I rode in Bob's 93 two weeks ago and was very impressed with the DTT 89% setup he is running. He is a very credible person to talk to and will tell you what he both likes and dislikes about all the mods he has done - even the tranny! Marc

I also know of another great alternative if all you want is a tough tranny that you cant tear up with a cummins!I know of a small shop in peanut country texas that has come up with a way to put allison AT545 trannys in dodge pu.
They have only done 2 wheel drives so far but are working on the 4 wheel versions.

You might try giving ATS a call, they are nice people to work with.
My ATS transmission gets beat on a daily basis, I drag race and street race.
Tripleloked!

--Justin

Re:New aftermarket Tranny? DTT vs ATS for my 93

Ram guy I was like you a couple of months ago trying to decide which way to go I finally went with the suncoast and I am extremly happy with it. Reasons why I went with them was I wanted the billet cover and dtt does not have one do you really need one I don't know and I also wanted different stator not a milled one which ats is, does it matter I do not know. and finally suncoast worked out a little cheaper when you consider all you get includeing a mag hy-tec double deep pan. I think they all make nice trannys just that suncoast is the only one that came with everything I wanted for less money and they have the best warranty three years unlimited miles and horsepower. You can also get a triple disc converter also from suncoast.
