Need More Boost

I just got my smarty and I like it so far, I only got 40 miles under my belt with it. Now I would like to get a little more boost. I have tried to pinch off the little hose going to the waste gate with a small visegrip. all that seems to do is let boost go to about 24 lbs. but it drops right back to 20 real quick. I would like about 30 lbs. btw smarty is on #9 of course. at least until I fill the tank then I'm going to try the milage program.

Pinching the line with pliers is a very bad idea! The compressed air will seep through the pinch and the wastegate will still open- but it will stay open until the air has seeped back, so you just delayed the wastegate action. Get an adjustable boost elbow and adjust it to 30-32 psi with your stock turbo.

you need more fuel to make more boost get a fueling box and set smarty on 8 if the box adds timing if it just adds fuel leave smarty on 9. or drop in a larger set of sticks (RV275 or up depending on your needs)

more boost without more fuel is pointless, it just raises cylinder pressure . i don't remember if this is correct or not, but don't you need a boost fooler for the truck. after a certain psi of boost, doesn't it start to defuel.

the Smarty has boost fooling built in.

How far are you going to go, as far as HP? That can help you determine what size fueling box, injectors, etc. (hopefully that also helps you buy stuff once, rather than upgrading parts several times!)

It sounds like I need to make some sort of plug for my boost elbow,or posibly a turnbukle to manualy hold the waste gate closed, instead of just pinching it off. As far as how much power I want to make. I think that I might some day buy some injectors, but for now I just want to stay here. Also I realize more boost without more fuel is pointless but when ever the waste gate comes open that means I have enough fuel to build more boost otherwise aren't I starting to waste fuel and build heat because the turbo isn't putting enough oxygen into the mix.

By the way thanks for all of the comebacks!!!
