Re:muffler shop said no to removing muffler

well i have started getting tired of the droning on my 4" straight pipe system[65 to 75 mph]. i am fixing to put in a resonator or a muffler. when i have a heavy load, it is too loud in the cab to talk. mike

Re:muffler shop said no to removing muffler

Is there some way to go inbetween stock muffler and no muffler? A guy around the corner has an '03 without a muffler. When he gets on it the windows shake. I would like free flowing but can't subject my customers to that kinda noise. Sure can hear the turbo tho... ;D

Re:muffler shop said no to removing muffler

when i first did my straight pipe i used pipe that was a little over 3/8" in wall thickness (dad is a welder hence it wasn't thin exhaust pipe). it seemed like it pushed the drone up to around 2700rpms (hard to tell when the motor was stock and barely able to hit that rpm). thicker pipe does change the resonance and therefore the drone shouldn't be ~2000rpms where it's annoying.

Tom

btw, i don't know of any shop around here that'll do straight pipe, espcially when there's a cat on there.

Re:muffler shop said no to removing muffler

A shop here where I live suggested installing a 3" x 30 Glass Pack. Does anybody have any information on doing this?
