Moog Greasable Balljoints?
Moog Greasable Balljoints?
Hey all,
It looks like it is time for balljoints for my "new to me" Quad Cab and I'm having trouble finding greasable joints for my replacement. I've searched all the archives, part numbers and I think the consensus is to go with MOOG because they have fittings. To make a long story short my parts man called Moog and was told that they don't make a greasable unit? This is contrary to what I've read on past posts. Any ideas as to where I can find said units? I only need the lowers per my alignment man.

Sorry,
Thought I had my truck info listed. I have a 2001 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 with Dana 60's. Once again am in need of the lower ball joints only WITH greasable fittings. I'll stert to check with a few suppliers some have replied with.
Thanks in advance!

Jason,
I went to Summitracing.com and I think the #7369 shows for a 2wd. I did do the part search and found my MOG #7397 lower pictured and listed AS a greasable joint. I ordered this evening and will followup with a call in the AM. Price was comparable to my local dealers also. Hope no problems
Thanks Again!

Well my joints showed up yesterday from Summit with one box having the wrong accessory pack(smaller nut and cotter pin instead of larger nut and C clip). Called and they said to send it back, they'll warrant it and send me another joint. Not sure why they couldn't just send me the plastic bag with proper goodys and I'd send theirs back then. Didn't really want another week holdup seeing as the truck is on stands and am in the process. Maybe I can salvage an old clip and nut from sets being removed...."We'll see".
Also no grease zerk as advertised. After looking at my Dana 60 closer, it doesn't look like there is enough clearance for a fitting with the axle shaft rotating. My problem now is getting the hub bearing removed from the steering knuckle after I removed the 4 bolts. Manual says may be seized to the knuckle depending on driving conditions and seems I was driving in the "wrong conditions". Have sprayed liberaly with penetrating oil and tapped a bit here and there but am waiting to hear the real method
Any ideas of where to start whacking? I'm going to start a new post with this problem hoping someone can help me out.
Thanks again,
Chris

I found the best way to get that off is to get a pulley puller and tighten it while tapping on the bearing on all sides. It will take a while to get it to pop off but when it does you are home free. Make sure when putting it back on that you grind the rust off of it and apply a liberal amount of anti seize to thecontact surface so it will come off easier in the next 10000 miles when you need to replace those ball joints again suchasi have had to do.. Wish I would have seen this earlier. I purchased both upper and lowers from moog and have had to replace them every 10 to 17,000 miles. I finally broke down and ordered some good ones for about double the price and no lifetime warranty, and have been on my truck for about 25,000 miles and so far so good!
