there are severel ways to go on this. 1 reverse pattern manual, NOT recomened for street as most have NO engine braking in first and very easy to tear up the rear sprag along with other dangers. 2 a reverse manual with rear band apply a better safer way to go. 2 a forward pattern manual kit such as a trans-go -3 kit. most manual V B 's have fixed line pressure and is at MAX so it is hard on sealing rings and pumps for a DD. the trans go you can still use your TV linkage to control line pressure or lock it at max line ( again NOT recomended for street ).
why would you even want a manual VB for a DD ?

i dont tow very much. i own 4 vehicles with reverse manual valve bodies that are street driven. been doing it since 1968. mileage runs from300 miles to 85k have not broken the roller clutch yet. if one did a lot of down shifting to low at full throttle i could see it mite happen. except for no engine braking in low gear i love mine. would love to have one for my od trans but $$$$ just too much.
jughead the easy to break the low roller is to lift in low gear and hammer it again. I have seen it take out the whole back of the case and burn the car down when ATF hit the hot headers. here is a link to more info on 727 stuff.

I have a Manual VB on my Allison 545 in my 92 but only because the shifts were to unpredictable in such a light vehicle gut the 545 has no roller clutches. the best way to think about the Allison is like a self contained John Deere power shift. I wish I could have made it a reversed pattern but would have had to machine a whole new VB from scratch. You realy have to be carefull not ro down shift to soon with the 727.
