Manual to Automatic swap

Curious if anyone has done this?I was wondering what is involved in this swap and what mods need to be done? The purpose for the swap would be for drag racing. Also what tranny would be best choice for this app? Any comments appreciated.

I'll trade you, I hate the AUTO!!!!

I'm sure someone has made a swap one way or another.

Yes it has been done by a member on the "other" board. I'm pretty sure the one I saw used a 47RH. It was on a 2wd twin turbo 24V dually.

from what I understand the common swap is to the 47RH because it doesn't require the ECM like the 47RE

I'm considering converting a manual to auto in the future... looking at getting a 2nd gen 6sp truck... that way I'll get a D80, rear disks, QC/SB, legal with no cat converter... then do a built p-pumped 12v/auto... I figure the 6sp will fetch a lot more money than a core auto or 5sp, and the HO 24v should fetch good money on ebay... between those two, I should be able to swing a built 47RH swap and a good part of a set of twins...

Don't forget about the adapter plate on the back of the engine. They are differant between the auto and manual.
