manual to automatic swap

I have a 97 12 valve with a 5 speed, and my cousin has an i think its a 99 24 valve with an automatic. We are talking about switching transmissions. I was just wondering what all would i need to run the auto in my truck?

A LOT!!! Yours has a different ecm for starters. I know you're a lot better off because you can swap little parts that others without a donor/swap truck won't have, but I am not certain it's even possible. Two different motors...

Ya i'm just tryin to figure out what all its gonna take to get er done before i commit to something like that. I think it would be great though if it works.

Would i need a pcm off a truck or could i get a standalone controller?

If it were me, I would go with the 47RH from a 94/95.

Do a search here, Dieselman2300 did just that, went from NV4500 to a 47RH on a 97 Ext 4X4....Nice write up as well!

What is wrong with your NV?

Nothing wrong with the nv, just wanting an automatic. I get tired of shifting gears some days, plus i like the light to light speed.

you would have to get new engine/trans harness and pcm's for both trucks, as they are not compatable neither are the other things like, steering coloums and quite a bit more... it wont be fun or cheap
