Lowering a 2500

I see a lot of posts about the 2 inch leveling kit. Has anyone lowered the rear-end 2 to 3 inches to level the truck instead of raising the front end ?

I wish my truck sat about 2 or 3 inches lower! I don't know if it can be done on my 3500 dually. Not trying to hi-jack your thread but I would be interested in it too.

Lowered rear

Hey all, I have a two wheel drive 2500 that I lowered about 2" by drilling out the rivets of the front spring mounts and turned them upside down moving the pivot bolt of the spring up the frame rail 4", thus lowering the rear 2". You will also have to add a 6 degree wedge between the spring and the axle pad to rotate the pinion back down to the stock angle. This was a two fold change. Not only lowering the truck, it also changed the roll steer of the rear axle. In a turn/body roll the rear axle turns to the inside of the corner, thus prolonging the turn, with the mod. the axle turns to the outside of the corner, thus rotating the truck. I know most of you are saying WHAT!!!! If you do this mod. along with a nice big fat rear anti-sway bar, and about 3/4 neg.deg. camber in the front, my truck corners really well. Still pushes some but with that big block of iron up there your going to get some. Getting back to your question not sure about the 4x4 spring mounts but check out the symitry(sp) of the bolt holes to see if it will work. After your done throw afew good tack welds on and enjoy. hope this helps. Mark

4x4's have 6" blocks, don't they? Why not just get smaller blocks?

I am interested in this thread too. Let's face it, I am never going to seriously off road my 7,000 lb Quad Cab long bed, so today I was thinking about lowering it to get better gas mileage and look sportier. I still need the 4wd for driving in the snow when I go skiing and driving on the beach in the summer (it's the only way to get a car to our beach cabin), but I would really like to lower the truck. The rear would be easy, simply remove the blocks, but what about the front? Does anyone make such a kit?

I read some old posts about removing the 6 inch blocks and all said there is a risk of ramming the driveshaft into the transmission housing if you load the bed too heavy or pull heavy. I'm going to check with a machine shop and get their opinion on milling the 6 inch blocks down a few inches.

Well, I kind of figured that when lowering the back of the truck 6" by removing the rear blocks, it goes without saying that the driveshaft would have to be shortened.

Does everyone else have 6" blocks? I have 4.5" blocks on mine... If someone wanted to swap blocks and u-bolts (especially if they were close to this area) I would be very interested. Also if someone wanted to ditch there overloads!
