Hey guys,

I'm new to this site and looking for some help. I own a 1999 2wd diesel and I want to put a modest lift on it. I cant find anyone to help me. Is there someone making a lift for my truck? Is the front too heavy? Whats the deal? Any help would be greatly appreciated

My 99 2wd sags in the front too!!

 

I put an 1-1/2" spacer on my front, along with an 1-3/4" on the back, and she sits just about perfect for me...just a little lower in the front when empty, and it takes about 5K on the bed or hitch(s) with the airbags to make it sit anything lower than level.

I put a 2 1/2" spacer in the front, the truck is about 1 1/2" from level with the tool boxes in the bed and tailgate. I don't know if yours has the overload/ camper springs in the rear, but mine did and still does.

 

With the 2.5" spacer in the front, will you have to replace any other suspension parts? Would you need to do an alignment? I'm looking for a cheap lift, otherwise I can live without.

 

No, the only thing I did was to expand the available upper control arm adjustment by doing some cutting on the frame up top. I added 1/2" , and did this because on my last Dodge, they maxed out the adjustment.

with ANY lift you need to do an alignment...

these trucks are horrible offroad, I wouldn't even pose like it had any capability and spend any time/money/etc. lifting the front... if anything, i'd lower the rear a little

Wow, sounds pretty bad. I mean, I'm willing to pay for an alignment and spacers and stuff. But spending $1000 for a lift is a different story. I just want a little bigger look.

 

1-1/2" is what I've done...No alignment issues whatsoever!!! Trucks drives straight down the road (except for a little play in the steering, but hey, I've 285K miles ). Truck doesn't wear tires anyworse than it did before, and it's actually better...before it wore the insides out of two new tires in 15K miles, clear down to the cords.

BTW, I have replaced almost everything that can be replaced up front. The control arms, springs, and tie rods are original, but nothing else.

I had 2-1/2" up front when I first did it, but a quick look at the suspension showed that it was maxed out...the upper ball joint was resting on the bump stop mount with the trucks weight on it . Alignment shop laughed when they say it, can't say that I blamed them . I whittled the spacers down to 1-1/2" and they got everything lined up perfect and never said anything about it. I know the owner (who also does the alignments) really well and even asked him if it was OK like it is, and he thought I took the spacers back out.

I wish I could get custom springs made, I don't like the spacers being there, just peace of mind thing .
