Did you change anything else?
The 2.5" spacers I had moved EVERYTHING too far...the upper ball-joint nut was hitting the bump stop mount...everything was at the upper limit of it's travel, even with 4000lbs of weight on it.
I had to shave them down to ~1.75" to get it even close to being in spec so the alignment shop could work some magic on it...has been fine for 30K miles.

I originally got the 2.5" spacers ,but after looking at them
I traded them in for the 1.5" spacers. Got them from
J.C. Whitney. There is still a slight 1/2" - 3/4" drop
in the front ,but with my trailer hooked up my truck sits
perfectly level.

I disconnected the shock, and set the truck down on the ground. Measure the distance between the mounts, and use that as the center measurement of the new shock. Example: measurement is 15". Go to Napa, and find someone who is knowledgeable about shocks. Find one that measures 10" fully collapsed, and 20" fully extended. I may be wrong here, but I believe JC Whitney has custom shocks. Match the length, with the mount types, and get the heavy duty ones. It's been a few years, but I hope this helps.
