What about relays for the foglights? I am worried that my new fog lights are overloading my switch w/ the mod for the fogs to stay on with the high beams.

Would a Brite Box fix that?

I went ahead and ordered the harness from LMC. I figured if i take the headlight load off the switch it shouldnt have a problem with running just the fogs.

UPS delivered mine this evening and went ahead and installed them. Wow, what a difference. Thanks for sharing the info. I really don't drive that much at night, but last weekend we were camping in Spruce Pine, NC and got a late start so it was dark before we got there. It wasn't very much fun driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway pulling a 5er and not being able to see very well.

Are you just talking about the bulbs?

As far as I know the bright box just makes the high and low beams come on at the same time (which you can do yourself a for less than a buck)....and has nothing to do with the fogs. If you get all this stuff installed, you wont even need the fogs.

just go buy a $5 relay and wire it up yourself. took me about 15 -20 minutes. pulled the light switch out and found the parking light wire and tapped into that one. now my fog lights are now on everytime my lights are....parking, low, and high beams all. just ran a wire from there to the relay and then wired up the driving lights. havent even used my high beams since i did the driving lights and the new flosser lights.

Ok, i have a 2001 sport and my headlights suck. Would buying a pair of 9004 and 9007 bulbs, both in the 80W/100W variety, work to spice up my lights? Or will that put too much of a strain on my harness?

This sounds like a great solution to our light problem. My question is with the higher wattage, are we putting our light switch in danger of overheating? I seem to remember reading several post a while ago that mentioned having overheating problems with the headlight switch. Or do you need the relay kit to prevent this? Just a few questions.
Thanks

Yea, the relays allow the bulds to get power straight from the battery, all the headlights switch is doing is triggering the relays.

It was me. I dont have the bulbs installed but with my aftermarket high output fog lights on with my high beams I could feel and smell the switch getting hot. I figure the harness is cheap insurance to prevent an electrical fire. I just have to figure out how a relay works to add them to factory fog light wiring so my headlight switch becomes just a switch.

Honestly, I think the thing that hurts us the most is lense that our light is projected through... I have Sliverstar Ultra 2s and a buddy of mine has regular Ultras in his 05 Silverado and his lights are brighest light bulbs I've ever seen. He gets flashed by other drivers constantly because they think his highs are on...

Now I know thos 9004/9005 bulbs are brighter... but I still think with a clear lense and some Ultra 2s that'd be the brightest you could go with out going HID. But again its no a $15 set-up either... Could be as much as $200 depending on how much you spend on the housings. But since I already have the Ultra 2s, and I hate the look of the stock lights, and want more light... I plan to get a set of clear lensed housing. I don't expect to be as bright as my buddies set-up but right now I'm pretty sure his lows are brighter then my highs....

My whole setup talked about in this thread is going to run me a little over $200 including new fog lights and relays for them. If I dont like these flosser bulbs I am going to stick in my Silverstar Ultra's that are in my stock housings right now.

Is this a good way to wire up the fog lights with a relay:
http://www.classictruckshop.com/club...h/foglites.htm

Instead of a switch can I run the hot wire from the factory harness to pin 85 and run pin 86 to battery ground?

Should I run two relays or just wire the two powers together and tape up the other factory power wire?

And use this relay here?
