Let There Be Light!!!

good news guys......i have found a very cheap and somewhat easy way to solve the dim headlight problem. on another thread i saw that someone had tried flosser 9104 lights and said they were really good. so.... i found them on the net for a hair over $7 a piece. i figure for that price cant hurt to try. i recieved the bulbs 2 days after i paid for them. they are amazing!!!!!!!! the difference is unbelievable. they are 2-3 times brighter than stock and for only $15. by far the cheapest light mod you can ever do to you truck. i can stick a link to the website on here if you guys are interested and after 2 hours of wrestling with the first headlight to change it out, i found a very easy way to change headlight assemblies or bulbs. if anyone is interested i can do a write up on it.

Share the info...stock headlights suck. Im sure a writeup would help a lot of people too. We are all about sharing good info here.

What are the wattage of these bulbs? Are they 9004's?

BTW, if you get yourself a HD light harness from www.lmctruck.com you will be really happy with your lights.

well i have zero affiliation with this site so hopefully its ok. should be the very first bulb on the page( flosser 9104 ). yes that are a direct fit. the difference is they are an 80w/100w bulb instead of the 55/65. if you are wired up to have the lows stay on when the high beams are on i dont know if i would do it as the heat would be pretty hot that way.

i will try to get some pics and do a little write up on taking the headlights out but here are the cliff notes. after messing with the first one for like 2 hours i found a much easier way and did the second headlight in less than 10 minutes. from the front you have to take the rubber piece that snaps over the tabs on the side of the light nearest the grill. should be 4 tabs. next there are 2 bolts on the same side that need to come out, one on top one on bottom(the bottom one is a pain to get to and is really not needed so i threw mine away and only put the top bolt back in.) there is a screw at the bottom of the parking light kind of in the middle between it and the bumper. take it out and slide the parking light out(forward). there will be another bolt behind it. take it out. now pull on the black plastic assembly and pop it out of place. look for the headlight adjustment screws. there is a clip on each of the 3. you can pry them off with a straight screw driver, top two are easy, you can get under the truck and reach the bottom one the easiest. now the head light assemly will pull right out and you can pull the bulb out of the back. snap the new bulb in and reconnect the headlight adjustments. pop the black plastic houseing back in place, put the bolts back on and reattach the parking light and you are done. sounds alot harder than it is. very easy to see which bolts i am talking about. if i were to do it again i think it could be done in 5 minutes or so. feel free to contact me with any questions

yeah they are basically 9004's the wattage is just higher. 80/100 instead of 55/65...as for the hd harness you wont need any thing else. they are sooo bright now. dont even need the high beams anymore.

dont know....didnt really care as i would have been willing to do anything for better lights. there is no way the cops`would be able to get to one to check. we dont have any inspections down here either so i guess my secret is safe with me...(and dtr) also as bright as they are i figured i would get flashed by oncoming traffic but havent been yet.

motomac3: you said that you don't need any special wiring that the stock will work fine is this correct? I bought a set of Hella bulbs that were 100/80w and they stink big time I think they are worse than the stock bulbs. Come to find out the place I bought them forgot to tell me that you need a upgraded wiring harness, $70 later. But I would sure try these for that price.

I have these, too, and they really make a difference. Plug right into the 9004 connectors. Add a relay harness for $40 and you've got a good system.

They will be - but something MUST be done about the stock lights. They are dangerous on the highway, IMO.

I agree, I have some fog lights in my bumper that help out some. I think it would be cool if a person was good at body work to put in some lights from a 3rd gen.
