largest tire size 2500 w/3" susp lift.
My girl got me a 3" suspension lift for my 2500. I can run a 33x12.5x16.5 w/o any problems at stock height. I would like to get a set of Eagle 589 rims 16", I would like to go bigger than 315's if I can. How big can I go with the tires? I want to avoid any rubbing issues. thanx!
The Dakars I run in my set-up have 4.5" backspacing. I get a minor rub in a hard right hand turn on the passenger side nerf bar. Manageable though. Everything else clears and runs great, and looks like I want it to as well! Also, no fender cutting or anything involved on my truck.
A guy I know is running similar rims as mine and the exact same lift as me with 36" X 14.5" PJ's. He had to cut the fenders to make it work though.
Not sure how much the extra 0.5" of lift is going to get you honestly. You will probably be able to get 36's in pretty easily. 37's are most likely going to require some body work. I am not sure if you have side steps, but that can really knock down the size tire you can stuff under there.

I will tell you I wont be going bigger than 36" because of the height laws around here. I also still want to be able to use the truck as a truck if need be. I dont want to have a step ladder mounted in my bed just to get in there. I am leaning to the 315x65x16's.
For some reason I misread your initial post. I thought you were getting 5" of suspension lift.
My bad.
If you don't have sidesteps, 35's are going to just fit, maybe. 36's, no way, without fender cutting and so forth. I would probably suggest you check the backspacing on the rims. That can make a big difference.
Sorry, didn't mean to mislead!

I'd agree, no bigger than 315/35's. Thats what i have on mine, but w/ a 6' lift. I have plenty of clearance. With anything bigger than 35's, aftermarket brakes are a must if you want to keep from rear-ending anyone infront of you, esp if you have a load. Just my $.02.
