Re:Just a Tease...

That is awsome, looks like you do need more fuel, I'm sure the same guy(J.R. Adkins) that sent you the turbo will make you up some more injectors, and then you'll REALLY be flying! I happen to know for a fact that he has several sets of Stage 4 Nuclear Nozzles at the moment!

Andrew, I believe the next fuel upgrade will be a high performance pump... hopefully someone will have something new out for the VP's that will make more than 30hp. Also I gotta do something about a clutch.. it seems to hold as long as I side step it. The summer bombing is over and now time for a little more fine tuning and a dyno run.

So those new twins are making THAT much more of a difference?

That is impressive that with your old twins, it was ok, and now with these, and no fueling upgrades it's slipping the clutch!

BTW, I'll be in College Station tonight at The Hall, you in town, or still in Nac?

Re:Just a Tease...

Andrew,
He's flowing A lot more air. The porting netted a 4 psi drop in boost(less restriction at the intake) and significant drop in EGTs. So now you have cooler turbos that already make cooler air than the previous set of twins.

I heard of a guy named Boyle. He was a physicist that wrote the gas laws used in chemistry. also something about density being inversly proportional to temperature. :P

So, yes they can make that big a difference ;D

Horace is still running the "towing" injectors that I built him quite a while ago. There is a lot of room in this setup for more. These turbos are nearly half the price of "other" performance turbos out there. These are not stock turbos and have been built for high performance use. The HT4b has been used on pulling tractors for full seasions and lived @ 85 psi. There is more in it.

I never implied they were off the shelf turbos.. just not hybrids

I'm thoroughly impressed with his truck. The bad part is I didn't even know he got 'em from you till after I praised them :P

If I'd only known I woulda ribbed you more. 8)

Re:Just a Tease...

Mark,
I know how cooler air makes more power, and I know that a bigger turbo will compress it less, but did you EVER think a year ago that a 4b would work on a setup like Horace's?

JR,
What is being done to these turbo? Is it anything like Piers does, or Majistic use to do? Or something more like Kurt is doing?

Andrew I have not dissassembled any ones turbos. Im not sure what they do to them?? I had heard that PDR used to do oiling mods to theirs but have heard different lately. PDR does good work and has helped me plenty in the past. They have good products. Mine are Zero balanced and the bearings are improved upon and sometimes totally different than the stock units. Depending upon use sometimes we put larger or smaller wheels in them to obtain different results. OOPS I just gave it all away!!! :-X Now every one is gonna go out and build their own turbos!! :

I will put the chargers that JR is using up against any charger that ANYBODY on the net is using. That's why I use them, too!

I actually looked at it a year ago but the 4b is twice the price. A little overkill to be matching to a hx35-12 don't ya think?

Re:Just a Tease...

Besides the price difference Mark, what else sets the turbos apart? What is the A/R of the big brother, and the B2? Got a CFM number for either?

Re:Just a Tease...

the BB is a hybrid designed to flow a little more than the 4B but spool faster.

I don't ask the turbo guru about the wheels and housings other than larger/smaller, faster/slower, flow in comparison to...

they are his trade secrets. The hybrids are animals you just have to trust. He hasn't let me down yet.

Later,
Mark
