Just another lift pump discussion.... :)

Well I know there are a million different opinions about lift pumps/fuel systems. I just figured I would post my recent experience with a different setup. I got the vulcan relocation kit, and ordered a carter HP black pump, from summit. Heres a LINK
I put this pump in and my fuel pressure has been a steady 26psi at idle and Ive only been able to pull it down to 19psi. The install was especially easy since this pump is exactly the same dimensions as the factory lift pump. Im very happy with this setup. For under $200 Ive got excellent fuel pressure now. Im sure this pump could be run with the factory lines and still obtain great results, I just decided to up grade to the bigger vulcan lines while I was at it.

My $.02

I've never seen that pump before. Thats pretty good though. You don't think 26psi is too high for the VP though do you?

Can you turn the pump down, or do you have to use a bypass regulator? I'm i the market for a new pump, but I don't want 26psi. That's too much.

The holley blue on my other truck is unregulated, and has made about 22psi for last year and a half. Im not worried about it, it hasnt caused any problems yet, no hard starts or anything. Im going to keep on running it, if it becomes an issue I'll let everyone know.

It says that the outlet is 3/8, how does that work with 1/2 inch fuel lines fromthe LP to the IP? I'm looking for a new pump now too.

I installed the pump on the fuel rail in front of the fuel tank. The fittings worked great, with the vulcan kit. I forgot to mention also that this pump is super quiet compared to my holley blue. Only time will tell if this pump is a good aftermarket replacement, but for just over $100, I'll experiment.

I have had the P4601hp for over a year and just started having problems last month.
My fp went to 8# from 24# and varied then from 6-14#. I put the original lp in line with the 4601 and get 26# at idle and drops to 16# under heavy load, after about 2 hrs pulling my little 5r it dropped to 10#.
The fp goes back up after the truck sits for an hour or so.

Thanks! I got about a year out of my holley blue too before it started making noise/leaking. Hopefully this carter lasts a year or better.
