Just added exhaust and intake, still high egt's

Just got my aem intake and jegs 5" exhaust system today. I thought that it would lower the egt alot more than the stock setup i've been running. I still can get 1500 while flooring for a few seconds. I could only imagine what they would like while towing my car. I'm gonna get the pump timed soon but how much will that actually help? What give's, I was gonna order some 370 marine injectors and lazer cut delivery valves today but ...... my egt are high enough now those would only make it worse right? Let me guess it's time for a turbo upgrade. What can I do to get those egt's to a safe level? Right foot control is not a option. Thanks Ken

Not real sure about this but I'm gonna go out on a limb here. What's your boost pressure? If it's around 30ish then I'd say slide the plate back some and see where that puts you. If boost isn't there, put in an adjustable elbow to get there. Remember, I'm not really sure but figured I'd take a shot at this. Vern

I have a boost elbow and generally get around 34-35 lbs of boost at first then it comes down to 30-31 lbs after a second or two and stays there until I let off.

so u just have a 100 plate and gsk on a 180 pump and those are the EGT's u see? Seems alittle high to me, but I guess i don't have any experience with the bigger pumps and a plate. Timing and a turbo are really the only options to significantly lower egts since exhaust didnt do much. Maybe just a bigger exhaust housing for the time being if u can't spring for a full upgraded turbo. The 370's wouldn't be the best choice if ur in EGT trouble already, lol. DDP's seem to be the better choice but are more $$

You will have to get a bigger turbo to control some of the egt issues. Even getting a bigger turbo, you will still be running hot. DONT get the 370s if you are worried about the egt issues. ABOSOLUTLEY do not get laser cuts, all you will have is egt issues.
Also, Go and do a boost leak check. You can pickup all the stuff from Home Depot or Menards for pretty cheap.

I am running a HTT 62/14 turbo with New Era 370s with a 100 plate and a 4kgsk, and I can still see 1400* pretty easy.
When I tow my camper I use my valet switch or switch my plate to a #10.
I will be doing twins soon, that seems to be the only way to not tow by the pyro gauge.

Check your timing and make sure your intercooler boots are all in good shape.

If I were a 12V guys, I'd get honed 300s or custom EDMs and skip the 370s. The 370s have a spray angle designed for the different pistons in the 370 engines, and they are much less efficient with the CTD's different pistons, from what I understand-- can anyone confirm this for me?

There are plenty of guys making BIG hp with just 181s and a mildish plate. I can't say I understand the desire for huge DVs and super aggressive plates.

If it were me (given my 12V ignorance), I'd just do 300s (do they exist?) or 215s, a 10 or 11 plate, and some 181s.

I'm sure that varies a lot depending on what pump you have. The above combo will be quite different in a 215 pump than a 160 pump, I'd expect.

The 300's are a marine injector as well (I believe) so the spray pattern is not optimum.

You can use as aggressive of a plate as you want because the fueling that is controlled by the plate does not come into affect until a large amount of boost is built. I think my AFC controls the fueling until 18 PSI is reached and then the arm can ride the plates curvature.

Advancing the timing will drop the EGT's tremendously, I went from a pegged 1600* gauge by 2700rpm in 4th gear to just barely pegging at 3600-3700rpm by advancing my timing 10-12*, my timing is slipped now () but I am going to bump it up here soon to about 20* to drop EGT's and give it a hellacious kick on the top end again!

New Era has their injectors, and they are the correct spray pattern. They use a stock tip and have them EDMd to the size they want. They just call the 300, 330, 370, and 435s to give you an idea of the horspower levels. For example their 370s are 90hp injectors and the 435s are 140hp injectors.
Give Chuck (he goes by Woodsrat on here) a call hes a great guy with a great product with very good prices.

I used to run Bosch marine 370s and I went to New Era 370s my EGTs drop 150-200* when under WOT.
