Installed Glacier walbro 392- Review

Got it all hooked up. Fairly easy to install. No problems whatsoever. Hardest part was getting the fuel fill neck off and on again LOL. No kidding.

Cycled the key 3 times as the book said, then I started it up. I showed 17psi at idle then it went up to 20. That is what I show now. 20psi @ idle and I have only went to stage 3 on my edge juice. Could not pull it lower than 16psi @ WOT!!!. Mind you, I do not yet have the big line kit!!!

This thing is so quiet, before i started it I had to get my friend to crawl under it and hold his hand on it to make sure it was pumping. Could not hear a thing, but it was surely pumpin. Whisper quiet.

And most importantly, Richard at Glacier is awesome!!! He knows how to run a business. Answered all my questions. We did this install saturday and Richard told me they were closed on saturday, but if i had a problem, just call his business number and he will either answer it, or call back in minutes if I had to leave a message. And walk me through it. He said 24 hours a day, if he could help, call anytime. That is customer service and as long as this keeps up(which I think it will), I will recommend thier products to everyone.

(other companies, takes notes on this, service is what sells baby!!)

Anyway, Glacier and the walbro kit gets 5 out of 5 stars from me!!

does that kit have a prefilter? id recommend one as my walbro is dying due to not having one. i picked up another pump but wont be installing it until i have the prefilter and hardware ready to install at the same time.

the quietness is great!!

I installed a Napa Gold 3003 clear housing filter before the Walbro as pre-filter. It turned black in a matter of weeks. I think I need to replace it, but all it costs is $3.

I ordered the pre strainer from glacier. but check this out, I forgot about installing it after I'd already cut my fuel line. I did that for distance. i can still splice into the line and install it though. Right now, i am not running a pre filter but have one on my shelf.

BTW, what pressures are you showing to indicate that the pump is dying????

i would install that pre-filter cause other wise you have nothing safe guarding you from anything that gets into your tank. i have had my pre-filter installed since day one and i have the big line kit. the big line kit does make a difference. i'm running 27 psi @ idle and i pull it down to 23-25 psi at wot with my hot juice on 5/5 and ez on 3/3

I have read on the Blue Chip web site that having too high a pressure on the VP44 inlet is not good for the pump, and their explanation makes sense. As you can see in my sig, I can have any pressure I want but I tuned it down to 16 at idle and 12 under load, and keep it there. Also, I notice that I get higher pressure in colder temperatures, so I dial it down in the fall and had it dialed up a bit in the summer.

when i start its about 13-14 and sometimes will slowly creep to just above 15, but doesnt last there for long. anytime im on the pedal its 10, if i get on it hard its 4-5. sometimes it will bounce from 4 to 10 back to 4 at random times, whether im in the driveway idling or driving down the road. sometimes it does that for a long time, sometimes a short time.

my relay is not upside down so i know its not filled with water as others found with theirs. all connections are tight. ive gone over a year without a prefilter because that was the one piece of information i missed when i switched to this pump.

do i know for a fact its the pump? no, but the evidence is pointing that way. so i picked up a new one. just have to order up a prefilter and fittings to make it look 'clean' with the existing fuel system and then i'll be installing it. as well as remembering to do it when the truck is low on fuel

I have a Glacier Walbro on it's way as we speak.

What idle pressures are y'all seeing?

I don't want to deal with 20+ psi idle pressures when it's warm, and "who knows" pressures when it turns cold.

Ed,
I have 14-16 pounds on my 392 and bigline kit. I asked Richard what do do because I didn't want 20# to my VP. He said all you need to do is take out 1 washer from inside the regulator.
I agree with Texaschevelle- Richard is top notch!

I'm seeing around 18 at idle, 16 at cruise around 70mph, and at WOT it drops to around 14-15. Very happy so far and I have the pre-filter from Glacier...

I put a pre-filter on as well, and I don't get that much of a drop at all.
