Installed Edge Comp, Nothin happend...

I just tried to install the edge comp. I got today. After following all the directions it made the motor run like crap, and threw a bunch of codes... Did I do something wrong???

Sounds like it. I'd go back and double check the connections and grounds.

What are the codes. One of 2 things Happened. Hopefully you pierced the wrong wire on the vp44. Check that and the rest of the conections. But the other problem could be it just killed your vp44. Some times when you tap the wire it can just kill you vp44 quickly or later on in time. But go back in and make shure you tapped the right wire for the pump connection. Hopefully thats your problem. Also get the codes and post them.

Did you make sure that you disconnected the negative terminals on both batteries before you started to install the comp? If you do not, u will get codes and a CEL. But like the others said, go back through everything and double check to make sure everything is connected right. If everything is connected right, try some dielectric grease on the map sensor and Data link terminals.

Well I see whats wrong now. The wire left over was the wire that a guy uses to tap the injection pump wire with. I think im missing a few pages out of the directions. Because it says NOTHING about tapping the pump wire in them. But the rest is hooked up. I guess you need to tap that wire for it to add power correctly huh? Ps. I remover all other connections and the codes cleared and the truck ran fine.

You don't have to tap the wire to experience some of the power of the comp. By not tapping the power you basically turn your comp into an EZ.

Yeah, like big blue said, having the pump wire not hooked up will not make your truck run bad. I have a drag comp hooked up in EZ mode, no wire tap and it runs just fine. I think that you have another issue, possibly a bad wiring harness or a bad box.

I know from experience that a bad wiring harness will cause horrible things to happen.

I have the pump wire disconnected as well. It runs about the same as an EZ, but the EGT's are still higher than an EZ.

You should still notice a difference without the pump wire tapped.

Cool

It'll run much better than stock if the wiring is correct even without the pump wire tapped.
After a while you'll be ready to tap that rascal to get the full effect. If you're still under warranty, you might consider a Blue Chip cover which makes a better connection than the doodad that comes in the kit and you won't have to guess which pump wire to connect. I soldered mine but I'm almost out of warranty.

Here's some instructions:
http://www.power2it.com/pdf/DodgeCompInstructions.pdf

I don't see your lift pump fuel pressure gauge listed.
Without enough fuel to cool yer VP, the Comp might do a number on your VP...I'd wait until I was certain I had at least 10 psi WOT because it'll drop to 7psi on the wire tap.
A relocated lift pump w/Big Line Kit or FASS needs to be in your future.
