I just smoked my VP44. Is there a good place to get a upgraded pump from and any places to stay away from? I figure if I'm spending the money I might as well upgrade a little bit. I'm thinking about a Hot Rod pump. Any thoughts on the situation will help.

 

Do some searching on HRVP. Some like it, some do not. Some think it is a waste of money as other upgrades give more effect. I think most people think that reliability is the only thing a VP needs to possess. The performance enhancing features come from electronics or injectors.
Apparently all authorized Bosch shops use the same kits now days to rebuild VP44s, so any reputable source is as good as any. I found mine on Ebay and called them first, they sounded convincing so I bought it (Pensacola diesel). No regrets.
