Not really...but you need to get the pop-off pressures set for the P-pump!

Also, a good 24v conversion injector will get you a better idle than some others, and still get the big power out of it! If you really want to know more about injectors for p-pumped 24's, PM RonA...he's been through quite a few different sets trying to get a smooth running engine!

He finally found one, built by F1 Diesel!

There are injectors just for the conversion that run well and make good power + economy. These injectors are not cheap but then again doing a conversion the right way isn't cheap. There is a LOT more to getting a conversion truck to run well than slapping on a p-pump and lowering the pop pressures on 24v injectors.

Jet pilot, asides from fuel preasure what other problems are there to sort out. I have been comptaplating doing a 7100 on a common rail. Seems like all the conversion threads dont cover anything else.

If you aren't having any idle issues, consider yourself fortunate and leave things alone. Depending on how old the injectors are, the pop off pressures may be down a bit from stock(305 bars). what 65hp injectors are you running? 65hp injectors are big enough to make 500hp maybe a tad more with the p7100 and a good amount of air. Hope you enjoy the conversion, mine is running nicely.

Ive seen a good amount of P-pump 24v trucks with the stock 24 injectors, not even lowered pop off pressure, havent heard complain them, escept they need a bit more crankin before starting up then a 12v.

AS for the common rails, ive wondered that myself, but around here they put on a 24v head with injectors from a 98-02

I thought the pop pressure was higher on the 12 valve than the 24 valve, something like 8 to 900 more psi?

Usually people go with large diameter injector lines when they buy new lines because they dont cost that much extra, but its the large lines that make them idle all crazy, my buddy has a 24v p pump with big lines and stock injectors and his idles all crazy and my brothers truck we put small lines stock injectors on it idles smooth. Its not the injectors its the lines!! Thats my opinion anyways. But i would still like to get the pop pressure lowered on my brothers truck.

I was gonna get big ol'e lines, too! Maybe not now, though. Good thread!

Some people will argue that the line size has nothing to do with idle quality.. If you plan to make 1,000 hp and sled pull then you might need large lines, but not for a daily driver imo. They dont sell the smallest lines in stainless steel.. But i still opted for the smallest lines even tho i had to go with carbon steel. They are still beautiful!!!

Stainless is also prone to cracking more than mild steel. I had .078" mild steel, and when I upgraded to .093" lines, I kept them mild steel for that reason.

My .78 mild steel lines are cracking left and right now 4 months later... I am going to try larger injector than stockers and see if that helps. Otherwise I will re bend my old stock 24 v ines to fit my p pump or I may try stainless

If you re-bend them they will crack. How they are cracking and where should give you some insight on stopping it- odds are it's vibration induced stress so watch the mounting clamps, or add additional.
Re-bending any high pressure steel line will induce a crack.
