Cool Ignition Switch tweak for Security

I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried to put a hidden switch on their truck so that it wont start if someone tries to steal it? I know all the cop cars in town here are like that. I dont think it would be hard to put one somewhere in the circuit for the clutch censor so it wouldnt realize that the clutch was pressed in when you turn the key. Thanks!

I did that exact thing.

I linked it into a extremely obvious place. Hidden in plain site...

Ya know, just a thought here Shawn , but if your trying to disable your truck from being moved/stolen , i probably would not post how you disabled it on an open public forum , theives can read too ya know.

The cigarette lighter makes an excellent security switch. Just disconnect the power from it and and run it in series with the clutch safety switch. Push in to start.
If you are paranoid about some thief reading this forum just take the lighter with you or hide it when leaving the truck.

A fella could pick up some cheap trucks that way, drop a dime or nickel in the lighter , and crank it up... a hairpinor a small short bolt , anything.

If i made up a way to disable my truck , i sure as heck wouldn't post it here...

Thieves go for easy targets. If they break in, and they can't get the truck started and going in about 15 seconds, they will look for something quick to steal, and jump on to the next car.

Ever notice how many automatic vehicles get stolen vs. manuals?

I was in a vehicle the other day that need to have the blinker blinking to the right when started otherwise the alarm would just go crazy...

There was a company here selling a system that was pretty cool..

You could get in and start the vehicle, If you didn't hit a hidden switch within 2 minutes it would shut the engine off and the alarm (horn and lights) would go off.. the Thief just leaves the car in the middle of the street rather that stay and try and figure it all out.

At the top of the clutch pedal linkage under the dash. There is a jumper wire at the same place on autos that can also be used for a security switch.
